While most moves are handled by 53-foot trailers, several manufacturers and dealers reported growth in the straight truck segment of the moving industry.

Straight trucks traditionally have been used for local jobs. Charles Ducas, Senior Vice President of Sales at Kentucky Trailer, based in Louisville, KY, said that while there is growth in regional moves, the use of straight trucks is going beyond in-town deliveries.
